I posted an ad and cannot find it, why?

There may be a 1 to 5 hour delay before your posting appears on the website, especially if it's your first time posting. After you've posted a few times, ads will often automatically appear.

How long will my ad remain posted?

You may extend or remove your ad anytime by logging into your control panel.

If no action is taken, your ad with automatically expire after the following time periods:

We recommend logging into your control panel every 5-10 days to renew your ad if the item/service/job/etc is still available.

Can I post if I don't have an email address?

You will need an email address, but getting one is easy and free. We suggest either Yahoo! or Hotmail. It's up to you whether you want your email address displayed in your ad.

How do I change or remove an ad?

Just login to the site where you originally posted the ad.

I'm entering my password, why can't I login?

Please note that the different BayExchange.com sites do not share password info. Therefore, you must (re)establish your password the first time you post to each area:

• BayJobs.com
• BayPersonals.com
• BayBuySell.com
• Bay4Rent.com
• BayExperts.com

Feel free to enter the same password on each site to keep things simple.

I lost my password, how can I retrieve it?

Make sure you are entering your correct email address. If your email address exists in the system but the password fails, you will be given the option to have your password emailed to you.

Can I include html in my posting?

Yes. Be sure to convert any relative image references to absolute references, meaning image links should include the http://www...     Please do not include any scripts (i.e. javascript) or header tags (i.e. html, title, body). Our system may incorrectly edit such tags or delete the posting completely.

How do I add a picture?

Postings on BayBuySell.com, BayPersonals.com, and Bay4Rent.com allow you to upload one image. Just post your ad, then upload your photo, and then login to your control panel to insert the photo into your ad.

You can also link to your own web space. Many ISP's and email services provide free space for images.

Once you get images uploaded to your web space, you can make them appear in your ad by placing the following code in your posting:      (replace url with the path to your image)

<img src=http://www.yoursitename.com/yourfolder/imagename.jpg>

Can I include auction links?

All items listed for sale must be located in the San Francisco Bay Area and be available for physical inspection prior to purchase. If this is true for the item you are listing, then an auction link is okay. Please do not enter a price on such ads.

How can I report a bad posting?

Next to every posting there is a link that says "click here to report..." Go to the posting you would like to report and then click on that link. This way we will know exactly which posting you are referring to. Please remember that ultimate responsibility for all content belongs to the posting party, and we cannot guarantee that we will be able to review or take action on all reports.

Do you have rentals in <your area>?

All rentals currently in our database are listed at www.bay4rent.com. These rentals are posted by landlords, property managers and other 3rd parties. We are not the owners, landlords, or managers of any rental units.

Can you help me find a rental?

The Bay4Rent.com website acts as a rental listing service only. We do not perform full service searches.
